Brenda G. Price
Program Director
John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
Ms. Price is a program director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The Knight Foundation has grantmaking programs in 26 U.S. cities, and Ms. Price manages the grantmaking programs in Detroit, Michigan and Gary, Indiana.
Ms. Price joined the foundation in July 2004 and has more than 20 years of experience in community outreach, government affairs, public policy, education and philanthropy. She is a former program consultant, senior program officer and program director for the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan. Ms. Price has also directed the African American Legacy Program, an initiative that encourages and promotes charitable giving within the black community.
Ms. Price has also worked as a government liaison for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan, a community organizer for Nelco's community project in Detroit, a substitute teacher in Detroit public schools, and an assembly line worker DaimlerChrysler Corp.
She has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Oakland University and a Master's degree in Education and Instructional Technology from Wayne State University. Ms. Price serves on numerous community organization boards and committees. In 2001, she was selected as one of the Most Influential Black Women in metropolitan Detroit by the Women's Informal Network.
