Tel: 313-963-9815
Dierk L. Hall, Vice President, has been with City Connect Detroit since 2002, and is primarily responsible for relationship management, and fund development as it specifically relates to the organization. In addition to his uncanny ability to forge relationships, Dierk is strategically involved with many of our collaborative arrangements. In his formative days at City Connect Detroit, Dierk worked as a Program Officer and Program Director, working closely with the Lead Elimination Action Program, the Federal Appropriation Award to City Connect Detroit, and coordinating national foundation leaders’ visits to Detroit, solidifying his knowledge of collaborative management and the delicate nature of relationships.
Before City Connect Detroit, Dierk worked as a Program Officer for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation, recruiting for the organization’s international scholarship program. Dierk also gained a wealth of experience working at both Michigan State University in university development, and in policy, community development and fundraising at United Way, where he first met and began working with Geneva J. Williams.
Born, raised, and educated in Detroit, Dierk Hall is a two-time graduate of Michigan State University, and his love for his alma mater runs deep. It was at Michigan State University, that Dierk learned the fundamentals of relationship building, and received a greater understanding of political, government and educational systems. His formative experiences at Michigan State laid the foundation for the work he now does at City Connect Detroit.
A member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Dierk was a member of the first class of Americorp Volunteers under President Bill Clinton. He has been affiliated with the National Association of Professional Fundraisers, the National Association of Black Social Workers, and the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences at the national level. He currently sits on the Michigan Nonprofit Association’s SuperConference Planning Committee, is a member of the Michigan Governor’s Service Awards Selection Committee, and the Clear Corp/LEAP Advisory Committee. Dierk dedicates much of his time volunteering with his church, Hill Memorial Church of God in Christ.
A newly reformed health buff, and voracious reader, Dierk enjoys working out and traveling. Having traveled most of the 50 states, and throughout Europe and Southern Africa, he is looking forward to visiting West Africa in the near future.
