Edward Tinsley

Photo of Edward Tinsley Edward Tinsley is the retired (2002) President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank One Credit Company (BOCC), a subsidiary of Bank One Corporation (now JP Morgan Chase). BOCC was a provider of automotive dealer commercial services, indirect auto loans and leases. His diverse background features extensive experience in management, strategy synthesis, managing start ups and business development.

Mr. Tinsley joined BOCC in 1998 from First Chicago NBD Corporation, where he had served as Senior Vice President for Retail Products and was responsible for several businesses including indirect auto, marine, and recreational vehicle, education finance, regulatory compliance and commercial leasing. In his role as president of BOCC he was responsible for $25 billion in assets, leading a staff of 3,250 associates, managing expenses of $328 million and generating pre-tax profits of $390 million.

He began his career in financial services at Household Finance in 1967. He joined National Bank of Detroit, a subsidiary of First Chicago NBD, in 1971, and held several positions of increasing responsibility in commercial and retail lending areas before leaving the Bank in 1985 to serve as President of Bing Steel, a $50 million revenue automotive parts supplier. He later rejoined NBD in 1991. Mr. Tinsley made significant business contributions and held senior level positions of President and General Manager for the equipment finance and leasing subsidiary of NDB for 5 years and was then asked to manage the First Chicago Trust Corporation where he later became Chairman.

After a two year retirement, Mr. Tinsley joined the Bing Group in 2004 as VP of Corporate Affairs responsible for performance management, Human Resources, corporate Information Technology and community support. He formed Longfellow Group LLC a business management and real estate advisory firm in 2006.

In January of 2005 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Detroit Commerce Bank and elevated to Chairman of the Board in 2007. He also serves as the Treasurer and head of the Finance Committee for City Connect Detroit.
