Tel: 313-887-6504
A true people person, the amicable Patricia Chaney, Administrative and Grants Assistant, always has a smile on hand and a hand to help. Patricia joined the City Connect Detroit staff in April 2007 through the Detroit Urban League’s Mature Workers program as a volunteer. While working through the Mature Worker’s program, Patricia served as receptionist, greeting visitors and staff alike with her warm demeanor.
At the start of November, Patricia joined the City Connect Detroit team full time and took on her current role and responsibility of Administrative and Grants Assistant where she acts as receptionist, maintains City Connect Detroit databases, and assists the Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to joining City Connect Detroit, Patricia worked at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Day Treatment as an Administrative Assistant for the Director. Patricia also valued her work at the Clintondale Continuing Education facility where she taught students of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in her Computer Applications class. She also helped graduate the largest class ever in the history of Clintondale schools.
A committed civic volunteer, Patricia has given her time and skills to various organizations throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. She has been involved with the Young Detroit Builders, teaching students basic computer skills and helping them prepare for the General Education Development (GED) test. She has also volunteered for several years within the Detroit Public Schools system at Jackson Middle School, Clarke Elementary, and Finney High School before she was hired into DPS.
Patricia moved to Detroit after living in Seattle, Washington for the early years of her life and says Detroit has it going on! A big fan of jazz music, she loves the summer music events, and loves how the city has changed, and grown and continues to grow.
In addition to jazz music, Patricia enjoys expressing her creative side through dancing, drawing, decorating and arts and crafts. She has two wonderful sons, who are married and have given her five beautiful granddaughters, whom she teaches to live life to the fullest just like she does.
