City Connect Detroit: Bio

Shirley Hogue-Lloyd is one-half of the amazing operations team that keeps City Connect Detroit running smoothly and efficiently. A former executive assistant with United Way Community Services, Shirley came out of retirement to work with City Connect Detroit and has loved every minute of it. A phone call from Geneva J. Williams in 2003 convinced Shirley to do consulting work with City Connect Detroit, coming aboard full time in July 2006. Shirley currently provides executive support to the City Connect Detroit team, specifically to the Vice Presidents and through special projects for the President.

Shirley retired from United Way Community Services after almost 20 years of service to the organization, where she provided executive administrative support, coordinated special events, supervised office employees, and served as the liaison for the Vice President at various meetings and events.

Shirley is a community volunteer and advocate to the core, and has always been active in her community, including affiliation with the Detroit Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Professional Black Secretaries Association. She has volunteered with the Calvary Church Soup Kitchen, Detroit Society for the Blind and takes youth from Full Gospel Tabernacle Church camping every summer.
